Rate change is part of world history dating back to the Egyptians and the Greeks in ancient and medieval periods. By the 17th century, at the height of the modern era, Rene Descartes invented the Cartesian coordinate system and analytic geometry, a major advancement in the scientific revolution of his age. In 1687, Sir Isaac Newton perfected modern calculus with extensions that applied to the laws of motion and gravitation in his famous book, the Principia. These founding fathers developed amazing technologies that were ahead of their time and allowed science to advance forward by leaps and bounds. No other significant discovery impacts rate change until Albert Einstein discovered relativity, spacetime and the energy-mass conversion. Since Newton’s calculus, rate change has not undergone modernization. Its importance cannot be disputed for it is the cornerstone of everyday physics, mathematics and part of all we do. What has gone unnoticed is the fact that rate change should have a graph. In the physical sciences, the rate change graph represents physical and geometrical entities and their change to different states. This is made possible by correlating the various functions defined by rate change geometry visible in the graph. That correlation is the basis for a set of mathematical rules that enhance scientific methods. The rate change graph has broad applications and is capable of supporting technology systems analysis by improving advanced concepts recognition and creation.
